PGYTECH RetroVa is a modular iPhone camera kit with a vintage-style grip, physical controls, and an optional 2x telephoto lens. The grip is shaped for two-handed shooting and gives a phone the deliberate feel of a small camera. PGYTECH launched the project on Kickstarter in January 2026.
The maker lists a lever, control dial, and buttons for its Pro Imaging app. The app provides manual settings and film-style looks, while a microSD slot supports external recording. An optional telephoto extender and filter adapters take the system further. Those parts are specific to compatible iPhone cases and kits, so it matters which phone and which bundle you choose. The grip is more of a system than a universal clamp.

9to5Mac's early look showed why the concept caught attention. T3 also raised the right practical issue: some of the appeal depends on using PGYTECH's own app. If your photography happens in another camera app, the buttons and filters need closer scrutiny before the handsome hardware becomes an everyday rig.
RetroVa also asks the photographer to carry more than a slim lens clip. The grip, phone-specific shell, and optional optics make sense on a planned walk or shoot. They are harder to justify for the camera that usually lives alone in a pocket.
