Home Services LLC, a shell company MacRumors suspects belongs to Apple, filed a HomeView trademark in the US and several other countries in 2025. That puts a candidate name on Apple's smart home hub days before the "Welcome home" launch on October 13, the date reports attached to the smart home hub before Apple sent the invite.
The filing has company. Around the same time, another shell, Home Operations Suite LLC, went after homeOS: a priority filing in Liechtenstein in October 2024, registered there since, followed by US, Argentine, and Peruvian applications in April 2025. A HomeView device running homeOS is the obvious read.
Apple has used generic LLCs this way before. A shell company filed for visionOS in May 2023, a month before Apple announced Vision Pro with exactly that name. The same habit produced xrOS, which Apple dropped, so a trademark is a hint, not a confirmation. homeOS has the longer trail: it showed up in Apple job listings in 2021 and in tvOS 17.4 code in early 2024.
My bet is on homeOS making it to launch. It follows the naming pattern of watchOS and visionOS and has five years of breadcrumbs behind it. HomeView reads to me more like a mode inside the hub, the way StandBy is a mode on the iPhone, than a name Apple would print on a box. HomePad, Apple Home, and HomePod Pro are the other guesses in circulation.
None of it changes the hardware expected on the day, a HomePod-style speaker with a screen, built around Siri AI. Apple's own names arrive with the press releases on October 13.
