The wall-mounted HomeView is a screen with no way to power itself. Apple's store page says the model "requires a mount and power solution to operate," and the box holds the display and documentation, nothing else: no mount, no USB-C cable, no adapter. The tabletop model ships ready to plug in, with a 1.5 m cable and a 30W adapter.

Both arrive November 13. The mounts come from Schneider Home, one of the partners behind the Apple Home Collection, in three versions. The Power Mount USB-C Wall Connector takes a USB-C adapter of at least 20W, per Apple's spec sheet. The Power Mount AC Wired runs off a direct line from the wall, and the Power Mount PoE Wired, powered over Ethernet, is due in early 2027.

9to5Mac's complaint is that the mount is an extra purchase the tabletop never needs, on a model that already gives up the woofer and passive radiators in the tabletop's base. Its speaker is two full-range drivers in a 286 g display.

None of it makes the wall model a bad idea. It's the version for an entryway or a hallway, where Apple pictures it, and the mount is what makes it disappear into the wall. But it's a project, not a purchase. The USB-C mount needs an outlet within reach of the cable, the AC version means wiring, and anyone planning a clean Power over Ethernet install waits months past launch. The HomeView fine print has the rest of what Apple's spec sheets hold back, from the 1088 by 1088 display to the Siri AI fee.

For a screen on the kitchen counter, the tabletop is the simpler buy. It's the one that works out of the box, and iPhoners can set it up the day it arrives.
