iOS 27.3 beta 1 brings the iPhone Duo's redesigned StandBy faces to the iPhone 11 and newer, according to MacRumors. The clock you glance at while an iPhone charges is getting more choices, even if your phone doesn't fold.

The update refreshes the Analog and Digital Clock faces with more color and complication options. It also adds Calendar and Weather faces. These were part of the Duo's expanded StandBy experience, while other iPhones had kept the original clock, widget, and photo views introduced with iOS 17.

There's a useful change for photos, too. The Photos face can draw from Shared Albums, so a family album can become the bedside display instead of a collection from one person's library. As 9to5Mac notes, you can create several versions of the same face, give each its own settings, and swipe between them.

For iPhoners who keep an older iPhone on a desk or nightstand, that matters more than another clock design on its own. The new controls let you choose a weather face for the day and a different photo or color setup at night.

The hardware distinction remains. A regular iPhone enters StandBy when it's horizontal and charging. The Duo can also use StandBy while folded like a book or tent without a charger, MacRumors says. So the new faces travel to the rest of the lineup, while that freestanding trick stays with the foldable.

Apple released the first iOS 27.3 developer beta on November 3 and says the public update is due in December. If your iPhone 11 or newer already spends time on a charging stand, I'd revisit StandBy for these controls before changing its wallpaper.
