DJI's Osmo Mobile 7P is a folding phone gimbal that turns an iPhone into a more deliberate video camera.

It steadies walking footage, extends the phone on a built-in rod and stands on its own tripod. The black mechanism is compact enough for a day bag, though it is still a separate rig rather than a pocket grip.

The 7P package includes DJI's multifunctional module for subject tracking and other shooting features. Bundle details matter, since the standard Osmo Mobile 7 is not identical. DJI quotes up to ten hours of operation under its test conditions. Check phone dimensions and weight, especially if you keep a thick case or lens attachment on the iPhone.

TechRadar's hands-on review found the tracking and integrated support useful for solo shooting. The setup still has steps: unfold the gimbal, mount and balance the phone, connect the app where needed, then frame the subject. A spontaneous clip is usually faster with the bare phone.

The built-in tripod is handy on a flat table, but small legs are not a substitute for a full stand outdoors. The included module adds a fill light and receives audio from a DJI Mic Mini transmitter. If the goal is a walking interview, a microphone may improve the finished video more than extra stabilization. The gimbal earns its weight when smooth movement or self-tracking is central to the shot.

The 7P is at its best for travel video and solo demonstrations. Its folding design is clever and the kit avoids carrying a separate selfie stick. The investment is in a repeatable filming process, so practice with it before the day you actually need the shot.
