A radar full of dots still leaves you looking in the wrong direction. Overflight is an aircraft identification app for iOS 17 and later that puts one nearby plane in focus, with a compass bearing and a readout you can match to the sky.
Look up, then check the scope. It uses community ADS-B data, the position signals aircraft broadcast, to show traffic around your location. Swipe to focus on another aircraft and read its type, altitude, and direction of travel. The developer's press kit explains that a visibility model selects likely sightings instead of treating everything inside a fixed radius equally. Spoken directions can call your attention away from the screen; an amber inbound alert announces notable traffic approaching.

9to5Mac liked the compass but wanted a haptic cue when it lined up with the aircraft. I can see the appeal: the useful moment is when you find the actual plane. Overflight's instrument-style display gives that small task room, with the focused aircraft above the radar rather than buried among map labels.
An overhead plane doesn't stay overhead for long; I like this focused display for iPhoners who want a bearing before it disappears. Just remember that aircraft which aren't broadcasting won't appear.
