Sometimes the room is the reason for going. Opulist is a place-discovery app for iPhone, launched on June 30, 2026, that selects hotels, restaurants, bars, and cafes with a particular interest in their design. Its photographs give you something more concrete to judge than an adjective like cozy.
Choose a city or browse a collection, inspect the photographs, and save the places that interest you. The map puts those choices in context: a restaurant on the other side of Los Angeles might belong on a different day's list. You can also search by category or describe the atmosphere you're after. The launch announcement explains how saved wishlists and nearby-place alerts carry that browsing into a trip.

The selection is the point. The Hiro Report picked out Opulist for finding places through their appearance, and I like that as a first filter. It gives iPhoners who care about interiors a reason to browse before choosing a neighborhood. A good photograph doesn't settle questions about service or food, though; I'd use the saved list as a shortlist and check those details separately.
Check your destination first: Opulist's launch coverage is US-focused. It's most useful when your trip overlaps the cities its editors have explored.
