Surfacing brings another problem. Subnautica: Below Zero is an underwater exploration game for iPhone and iPad that adds freezing land to its alien ocean, sending you through an arctic region to investigate your sister's fate while managing the practical business of staying alive.
Gather resources, craft equipment, and build a habitat that gives the next expedition a starting point. Underwater, the modular Seatruck extends your range, while a Snowfox hoverbike takes the exploration onto snow. On land, warmth becomes another reason to prepare, whether that means a cold suit or stopping by a Thermal Lily. I like the way those tools give exploration a purpose: reaching a place depends partly on what you bring and where you can recover along the way.

Playdigious documents a mobile touch interface and saves shared between iOS devices. The Otaku Authority's Android review found the exploration compelling but reported a demanding experience for the phone. Separate US App Store reviews in August and October report recurring audio failures on iOS, with the October player sometimes restarting repeatedly to restore sound. That matters in a world whose creatures are worth hearing before they get close.
I'd choose Below Zero for the expedition planning as much as the discoveries. Check the supported-device list first; the store explicitly excludes some older hardware.
