Do you have room for another fish, and enough daylight to get it home? DREDGE is a fishing adventure for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that makes those ordinary questions increasingly uncomfortable as strange creatures begin appearing around your boat.

Leave the dock, find a fishing spot, and tap in time with the minigame to land your catch. Cargo space is limited. Fish share a grid with equipment and salvaged materials, so you move pieces around to fit everything aboard before heading home to sell the haul. Better rods open up different fishing grounds; stronger engines help you reach distant islands. Staying out after dark invites fog and rising panic, with threats that can damage the vessel.

Black Salt Games explains that the mobile controls separate steering on the left from camera movement on the right. You can look around while stationary without advancing time. That chance to pause and assess the route appeals to me, as does placing catches with a finger. The developer also confirms external controller support.

The routine can wear thin. US App Store reviewers in May and August found the inventory work or repeated resource gathering tedious, and Pocket Gamer's mobile review found the later islands less compelling.

I'd recommend DREDGE to players who enjoy sorting a haul and improving a small boat enough to tolerate repeated trips.
