Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis is a fantasy tower-defense game where a blocked route can open mid-battle, forcing you to rethink a defense that looked settled.

Choose five tower types before a stage, then spend your battle resources on where to build and what to upgrade. Barracks put troops in the lane to delay enemies while nearby archers, mages, and artillery attack. Two heroes can reinforce trouble spots. A spell may buy enough time for a weak corner to recover, but the rest of the defense still has to hold.

The maps interest me. Pocket Gamer highlights levels with hireable units, special emplacements, and events that create new attack lanes. Its reviewer also liked the confirmation step and explanatory tooltip when choosing an upgrade on a touchscreen. A misplaced tap has room to be corrected.

The extra character unlocks are a recurring source of friction: Pocket Gamer objected to them, and a November App Store reviewer raised the same concern. The review also found the music repetitive. The character complaint matters if a particular hero is part of your reason to play.

Genesis suits players who like adjusting a plan during the wave. I'd start there for its changing maps, rather than expect an entirely different kind of tower defense.
