Matt Talks Tech has ten rumors lined up for the iPhone 20, Apple's 2027 anniversary phone, and the headline one is the battery: a 6,000mAh cell in the Pro Max, credited to the leaker Instant Digital. The way there, per the video, is a silicon-anode battery that fits more capacity into the same space, plus a redesign that frees room around it. It's the same anniversary phone behind the case for skipping the iPhone 18, with more detail on the inside.

The front of the phone

  • Edge-to-edge glass. The screen curves over roughly 10 to 15 percent of each side, so the phone looks bezel-free head-on. The channel expects touch to stay on the flat top surface, so gripping the edges won't pause a video.
  • No Dynamic Island. Face ID and the selfie camera move under the display and show only when needed, the way the iPhone Duo hides its inner camera.
  • A new Samsung LTPO panel. It's thinner to build, the kind of panel the video credits for the Galaxy S26 Ultra's slimmer body, and it leaves more space inside.
  • Two sizes on day one. With the bezels gone, the channel guesses 6.4 inches for the smaller model and a full 7 inches for the larger, and doesn't know yet whether either carries the Pro name.

Inside and on the sides

  • Haptic buttons. Volume, power, the Action button and Camera Control all go solid-state, with a motor faking the click the way the iPhone 7's home button did. Fewer moving parts means less for sand to jam.
  • Silicon-anode battery. The video puts the iPhone 18 Pro Max at around 5,300 to 5,400mAh and sees roughly 600mAh more in the same volume, with 6,000mAh possible on the eSIM-only model.
  • A21 Pro. Apple's second-generation 2nm chip, which the channel expects to keep a six-core CPU and gain most in efficiency, as the second 3nm generation did.
  • C3 modem everywhere. Every iPhone 20 is expected to use Apple's next modem, including US models, where the US iPhone 18 Pro Max modem is still Qualcomm's.
  • Stacked RAM. 3D-stacked memory raises bandwidth, which should help app switching and on-device AI.
  • Apple's own camera sensor. The main sensor is designed in-house this time, even if Sony or Samsung still builds it.

One item is the channel's own math rather than a leak. A jump to 16GB of RAM rests on a pattern: Apple has kept each amount for about two generations, from 6GB to 8GB to the 12GB in the iPhone 17 Pro and 18 Pro models. The video's own caveat is memory prices, which could hold Apple at 12GB with only the faster stacked RAM.

I'd read the battery number the same way, as a ceiling for the eSIM-only model that depends on the screen, buttons and Face ID all shrinking as rumored. Under-display Face ID is the change to watch, because it decides how much room is left over.
