Apple's October 28 event may now have an on-sale date attached. Max Tech relays Bloomberg's Power On podcast: Apple retail stores were reportedly told to expect a product reset on the evening of November 5, which would put the Macs and iPad mini from Apple's October 28 creator event on sale November 6. Creators are expected to get dinner and meetings with Apple staff on October 27, with the reveal the next day.
That lands between dates already on the calendar: the iPhone Duo on October 23, HomePod mini 2 on October 30, then HomeView and the new Apple TV 4K on November 13. The lineup matches the four October 28 launches rumored earlier: a touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro on the M5 Pro and M5 Max, an M6 base 14-inch MacBook Pro, an M6 iMac, and an iPad mini 8 with the A20 Pro and 12GB of memory.
The new detail is mostly physical. The OLED MacBook Pro trades the notch for a Dynamic Island and is expected to come out significantly lighter, though not much thinner, which Max Tech puts down to how hot the M5 Max already runs. The iPad mini swaps its speaker grilles for cutouts on the top and bottom edges and thins its bezels, with Apple reportedly still testing 60Hz and 120Hz panels. The iMac may change colors to match the HomePod mini 2, which skips purple. The A20 Pro is what makes Max Tech call the tablet an "iPad mini Pro" for the first time.
A tablet with the iPhone 18 Pro's chip and a 60Hz screen would be an odd Pro, and that panel choice is the detail I'd wait for before treating the mini as one.
