October has two Apple dates now. The same day Apple sent its "Welcome home" invite for October 13, Bloomberg reported a second event on October 27, and 9to5Mac's rundown treats it as the month's real Mac moment, while noting that only the first date is official.

The headliner builds on the OLED MacBook Pro and M6 Macs rumors from early October: 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros with OLED touchscreens, a Dynamic Island in place of the notch, a thinner and lighter body, and M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. 9to5Mac guesses at a tandem OLED like the iPad Pro's and even a MacBook Ultra name, and reads the long-press menus in macOS 27.2 beta 3 as touch groundwork.

The OLED iPad mini gets the A20 Pro, a landscape front camera, slimmer bezels, and new speakers, but the panel the video describes stays at 60Hz, short of the 120Hz earlier rumors promised. M6 versions of the iMac and the existing 14-inch MacBook Pro design round out the list, and 9to5Mac warns that the plain M6 won't outrun an M5 Pro or M5 Max on heavy work.

A first touchscreen Mac is first-gen hardware, however good the panel turns out to be. Early adopters can have it. If I needed a MacBook Pro by year's end, the M6 model in the familiar chassis is the one I'd wait for.
