Fifty percent in 20 minutes over USB-C with a 65W charger, or 30 minutes on MagSafe. Charging is the new detail in Matt Talks Tech's second 15-reason iPhone Duo list, posted days before pre-orders open on October 16, and the rest updates the channel's first iPhone Duo 15-point pitch with launch specs.

What two screens add

  • Two apps at once. The inner screen runs a pair side by side and remembers it, so switching away and back reopens both.
  • Apple Pencil. Support for the USB-C model arrives later this year, on the nano-texture inner panel; the Pencil Pro won't work.
  • Camera poses. Half-folded, the phone stands on its own and waits for the shot, and the cover screen can show kids something to look at before the shutter fires.
  • iOS 27 tweaks. Menu buttons move to the sides of the inner screen, within reach of a thumb.

Under the hinge

  • Build. A titanium frame, a ceramic glass back, and IP68 down to 6 meters.
  • A20 Pro. A six-core CPU and seven-core GPU on 2nm, which Apple rates up to 20 percent faster on CPU and 40 percent on GPU than the A19 Pro.
  • Battery. The video quotes 44 hours of video on the cover screen and 31 on the inner one.
  • Radios. The C2 modem with mmWave 5G, eSIM only, plus the N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.

The camera section is where the pitch turns into a list of compromises, and the video lists them plainly.

What to know

  • The 48MP ultrawide is the iPhone 18 Pro Max's, but the 48MP main camera is closer to the iPhone 17e's.
  • The front camera is the iPhone 16's 12MP sensor; the 17 and 18 lines moved to 18MP.
  • The inner FaceTime camera hides when it's off, and Apple hasn't given its resolution.
  • Video tops out at 4K60, with Dolby Vision and Cinematic focus edits after the fact.

Read in order, the 15 reasons sell a screen you carry rather than a camera you shoot with. iPhoners who mostly take photos get more from the 18 Pro Max, and nothing on this list argues otherwise.
