The date firmed up and the lineup didn't move. Bloomberg reports Apple is planning creator events in Los Angeles on the evening of October 27 and through October 28, and Matt Talks Tech expects four products to arrive around them, with November the likelier ship month.
The OLED iPad mini leads the list, keeping the design of the last two generations with a tandem OLED panel and the A20 Pro from the iPhone 18 Pro, binned to a six-core GPU. The refresh rate is still open: Apple has reportedly tested both 60Hz and 120Hz, and the video reminds viewers that iPhones from the 12 to the 16 shipped 60Hz OLED. Water resistance is rumored too. The OLED MacBook Pro is the big redesign, with a touchscreen, a slightly thinner body, new cooling, and cellular through an eSIM and probably Apple's C2 modem. It's also expected to keep the M5 Pro and M5 Max rather than jump to M6.
The other two are chip updates. A 14-inch MacBook Pro gets the M6 that debuted in the Mac mini, in the mini-LED design that dates to 2021 and that Matt Talks Tech expects to last to 2028 for base chips. The 24-inch iMac gets the M6 and maybe new colors, with no OLED.
Put together, the newest silicon goes into the oldest design, and the redesign ships with the older chips. Anyone choosing between the two MacBook Pros will be picking a screen or a chip, not both.
