Matt Talks Tech's iPhone Air 2 rundown counts seven rumored upgrades, and its thesis is that Apple is going after the two things that held the original back: battery life and a single rear camera. The camera half has the strongest backing. Bloomberg reports the second lens is an ultra-wide rather than a telephoto, for a spring 2027 launch next to the base iPhone 18.
The battery is softer. The video's 3,500mAh figure, about 11% over the 3,149mAh widely reported for the first Air, traces to the Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station, per MacRumors. A separate report of a thinner OLED panel is how it might fit without adding thickness.
The rest of the list leans on supply-chain chatter: an A20 Pro on a 2nm process, Apple's own C2 modem, a smaller Dynamic Island, and a vapor chamber for a body with almost no room to shed heat. The modem is the shakiest call of the seven, given that the US iPhone 18 Pro Max skips the C2.
Apple hasn't confirmed any of it. Still, a second camera and a bigger battery are exactly what a second-generation Apple product is for: the first one is for early adopters, and the second one is for everyone else.
