Four launch windows have come and gone for a new Apple TV, by Matt Talks Tech's count: a rumored late-2025 slot, then March, then WWDC, then the September 9 keynote, which announced an iPhone Duo, two Pro phones, two watches, and AirPods 5, and no streaming box. The one on sale is still the 2022 Apple TV 4K on an A15 Bionic, a chip the video calls five years old and, HomePods aside, the oldest thing Apple still sells.
The consolation is the code. The identifier the Apple TV A19 code leak turned up, spotted by MacRumors, points to an A19 or an A19 Pro rather than the A17 Pro the rumor mill had settled on, which the video reads as 8GB or 12GB of memory against today's 4GB, and a second code find describes an updated Siri Remote. The wish list stacked on top, HDMI passthrough and newer Dolby formats, is the channel's, not a leak's.
Siri, again. The reason a five-year-old chip matters is Siri AI and Apple Intelligence, which the video points out the A15 can't run, so the Apple TV is the one screen in the house where the assistant Apple spent the keynote demoing won't arrive. Bloomberg's line about finished units waiting in a warehouse, which the video repeats wearily, cuts both ways: hardware that's built ships when Apple wants a headline, and a press release with no event is how the 2022 model arrived.
Your guess is as good as mine.
That's the video on the release date, and nothing in the leaks improves on it beyond a hope for late 2026. iPhoners shopping for a streaming box this week are buying four-year-old hardware; the ones who already own one have, by the video's own admission, a box that still works fine.
