"Remember these socks you looked at once?" That line carries Apple's 15-second Safari spot, released October 12 under its Switch to Safari campaign. It cuts between browsing in Safari and browsing in "not Safari," where one shopping search refuses to go away.
The thumbnail gives the gag away. A man stares into the camera with a pair of pink socks printed with his own face draped over his shoulders, another man leaning in behind him, under a Safari or Not Safari title card. The script throws in a onesie as well. Apple's caption names the feature doing the work, Intelligent Tracking Prevention, which it says helps block data trackers from following you around the internet.
As a pitch, it beats a privacy spec sheet for me, because being chased across the web by one search is an annoyance nobody needs explained. iPhoners reading this in Safari already have that protection working for them, by Apple's account. The spot is for the people who installed something else.
