Safari's adaptive dark mode works in AppleInsider's iOS 27.3 beta 1 tour. AppleInsider moves between Safari, Health, StandBy, and Siri on an iPhone 18 Pro, an iPhone Duo, and an Apple Watch. On its Duo, the promised vertical tabs don't appear.

Changes you'll notice on the phone

  • Adaptive dark mode. AppleInsider switches Eater, a site without its own dark theme, into a darker view. The on-device preview adjusts page colors and contrast, while sites with native dark mode keep using their own design.
  • StandBy faces. The Duo's expanded clock styles and color controls reach regular iPhones. AppleInsider shows more customization for a phone left on a charging stand, though it says some Duo features remain exclusive. For iPhoners with an older bedside phone, this is the part to revisit.
  • Duo reachability. Swiping from either edge brings the wide inner display within thumb reach. The toggle sits under Accessibility, then Touch, and AppleInsider finds it enabled by default.

Health and workouts

  • Health redesign. The Health app adds a Longevity tab with Health Age, an overview, and areas to explore. AppleInsider says this design appeared in an iOS 27.2 beta before Apple pulled it.
  • Gym Strength. Apple Fitness+ walks through experience, goals, and schedule to build a strength plan. AppleInsider relays Apple's claim of more than 350 exercises and shows plans running up to four weeks.
  • Apple Music. A new splash screen points to concerts, artist pages, and AutoMix changes. AppleInsider notes that some of those updates already arrived in iOS 27.2, so the screen isn't proof that every item is new in 27.3.

What Siri can do next

  • More app actions. AppleInsider describes new Siri actions across Calendar, Messages, Reminders, Files, Maps, Music, and Safari. Examples include scheduling a message, making a folder, and asking about a place visited recently.
  • Recap and Live Rewind. On Apple Watch, AppleInsider pairs an upgraded audio connection before enabling conversation recaps. A double press of the Digital Crown triggers Live Rewind, which triggers a visual and sound cue in the demo.
  • Languages and China. AppleInsider says Siri AI gains Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese, Turkish, and Norwegian. Apple Intelligence enters beta in China, while the fuller Siri AI rollout isn't included there yet, according to AppleInsider.

Apple's own Siri examples are a start. I'd wait to see how many third-party apps expose useful actions before putting this beta on a daily phone.
