I usually side with apps that do one thing well. Eva is a daily planner for iPhone that folds a calendar, tasks, habits, and an AI assistant into one app, topped by a morning digest of more than 30 blocks. Those blocks run well past weather into biorhythms and Mercury retrograde, and a solo developer builds all of it.
Photograph a movie ticket and Eva reads the showtime and seats, then offers to add the event with reminders. Type a plain sentence with a wake-up time and a meeting, and both land in the calendar. The digest is a stack of cards you switch on and reorder, including one that turns the forecast into what to wear. Eva can also draw the day's tasks onto a Lock Screen wallpaper.

What works
- A focus timer that turns on Do Not Disturb and shows progress in a Live Activity
- Birthdays pulled from Contacts, with reminders ahead of the day
- Habits that sync with Apple Health
What to know
- Assistant requests leave the phone for processing, per the developer's site
- Web sync needs an email sign-in with a one-time code
An August update, billed by the developer as Eva's biggest, added a web version with sync across devices and a natal chart with daily transits. Two-way sync with Apple's Calendar and Reminders, plus Google Calendar import, means trying Eva doesn't require moving your schedule anywhere. iPhoners who'd rather keep horoscopes out of their planner get a switch at the very top of Settings that hides all the astrology. One toggle, all gone.
But one September App Store review asked for a Pomodoro timer, which Eva already has as its focus timer. In a planner this wide, the astrology switch is the kind of off switch I'd want everywhere.
